(CENTREVILLE) – Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 was a busy and fruitful year for St. Joseph County Veterans' Affairs.
During Tuesday's County Commission meeting Veterans' Affairs Director Stoney Summey presented their annual report. He shared that several new programs have been started for veterans, one of them involves bees. LINKC.
One of the other programs Summey spoke about is the Equine Therapy Program. LINKD.
Veterans can also take advantage of the Peddle-Paddle Program. Six mountain bikes are available to be checked out at Meyer Broadway Park near Three Rivers.
These programs are funded through a grant.
Summey also shared that in 2020, there were 26 veterans who were deemed as homeless and were given shelter by the Veterans' Affairs Department. He says many of the veterans are now looking for a place of their own.
