(STURGIS) – There have been several rumors regarding ICE agents and students being taken from schools circulating on social media.
Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert says they are just that, rumors.
Ebert sent out an e-mail to parents of Sturgis Public School students and posted it on the District’s website. In the e-mail, Ebert says Sturgis School officials have heard the rumors and they are not true.
Ebert says no immigration officials have contacted Sturgis Public Schools, and no immigration officials have visited any of the Sturgis School buildings. No students have been taken from Sturgis Schools.
Ebert says the intent of the e-mail is to provide parents and the community with factual information and to speak directly to the concerns school officials are hearing about.
If anyone has further questions or concerns, they can contact Ebert by calling 269-659-1501.
