(CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP) – Breaking into a home has landed two people behind bars.
White Pigeon Police say a man who owns a house in the 12,000 block of Riverside Drive in Constantine Township went by the house around 4 PM Friday and saw a porch light that was off. He went back to the house and after hearing voices coming from inside, called the police.
A man and woman who had been staying in the house without the owner's knowledge, left the dwelling. They eventually reached another house in the 12,000 block of Dickinson Road.
The homeowner of the Dickinson Road home said the woman knocked on their back door while the man knocked on the front door. When the male suspect saw a police car, he entered the house, removed his coat and sat down.
The owner of the home let his dog out and told police the man was inside. He was taken into custody. Officers searched his coat and found a handgun.
Police say the woman was found hiding behind the house and also arrested.
Charges of home invasion, breaking and entering and felony firearms are being sought against the male suspect. The woman will be facing charges of breaking and entering.
