(STURGIS) – A local organization is asking for Sturgis Hospital to keep and maintain their emergency room services.
During their December 4 meeting, the Sturgis Improvement Association unanimously approved a resolution that strongly encourages the Sturgis Hospital Board and Hospital management to maintain Emergency Department services at their current levels. The resolution also asks the Hospital to seek restructuring opportunities that would maintain these Emergency Department services and be supportive of current business retention, as well as future business and talent attraction.
The SIA says it's their opinion that failure to provide a comprehensive suite of services, in particular 24 hour per day, 7 day per week Emergency Department services, will be detrimental to the attraction, expansion and retention of current area businesses as well as to the future attraction of skilled, technical and professional employees.
The resolution was sent to the Sturgis Hospital Board and Hospital Management, in addition to the Sturgis City Commission, the Sturgis Township Board of Trustees and local media outlets.
