(LAGRANGE) - When the new LaGrange County Justice building opens later this year, don’t expect to see a lot of new furniture inside.
Rex Pranger gave the County Council an update on the progress of construction during their meeting on Monday. He emphasized just how tight the $3.8 million budget is by saying its the difference between paper towel dispensers or electric hand dryers.
County Councilman Mike Strawser says while he didn't vote for the building, he does want to see it constructed for the $3.8 million agreed upon.
Many of the old office desks from the prosecutor and probation departments will be re-used in the new building, with new furniture pieces mainly in the common areas the public will see.
Pranger said shingling of the roof and bricking of the exterior will begin yet this month.
