(COLDWATER) – One of the individuals detained following a standoff Monday is facing charges of armed robbery.
Coldwater Director Of Public Safety Mark Bartell says his officers were sent to investigate a report of an armed robbery on South Jefferson Street around 4:30 PM Monday. When they arrived, one of the officers made contact with a victim who said she had been robbed. The woman said the suspect, a white man, pulled a firearm on her and took some money, then fled the scene in a maroon colored Dodge Stratus.
A short time later, police located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's near a residence on Peckham Street. Officers tried to make contact at the residence, and observed a person matching the description of the suspect inside the house. The individual would not answer the door or speak to the officers at the scene.
At approximately 5:45 PM, officers were able to peacefully negotiate with all of the individuals inside the house to come out. Three men came out and were detained.
Police executed a search warrant at the Peckham Street house where they located items believed to be involved with the robbery. Police interviewed the three men and arrested one, a Coldwater man, on armed robbery charges.
Coldwater Police were assisted by the Branch County Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police.
