
(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Area Chamber Of Commerce has announced the 2019 Citizens Of The Year.
Chamber Executive Director Cathi Abbs says this year's Citizens Of The Year are Bruce Gosling and Monica Smith.
Gosling is a 1976 graduate of Sturgis High School.  He received an Associate Degree from Glen Oaks Community College and then a Bachelors Degree from Tri State University.  He is a certified public accountant and is employed by NormanPaulsen, now Gabridge and Company, where he is the principal in the Sturgis office.
Gosling is a member of the Board of Directors of Century Bank & Trust Company; a member of the Glen Oaks Community College Board of Trustee, where he has served as Treasurer and currently is the Board Chairman; and a member of the Sturgis Kiwanis Club.  He is also the past president of the Sturgis Exchange Club, a member of the Sturgis Salvation Army Advisory Board and a member of the Sturgis Historical Society along with the Sons Of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Smith is the Executive Director of the Sturgis Neighborhood Program, a position she has held since 2000.  She is also a member of the Sturgis Exchange Club, and was named the Exchangite of the Year in 2008.  
Smith is also a past board member of the Sturgis Area Chamber Of Commerce Board.  She is currently a board member for the Sturgis Area Business Education Alliance; a past chairperson for the St. Joseph County Housing Task Force and a member of the Sturgis Bank And Trust Company Community Reinvestment Act Committee.
Both Gosling and Smith will be honored during the Sturgis Fest Dinner, and be in the Sturgis Fest Night Parade as well.
