(NEWBURG TOWNSHIP) – A Three Rivers woman was injured while trying to avoid a deer.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 51 year old Misty Barnes was traveling north on Savage Road near Born Street in Newburg Township at 4:45 Sunday morning. A deer ran out in front of her, and Barnes swerved to avoid the animal. She lost control of her vehicle, went off the road, and struck a tree.
Barnes was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for her injuries. It's believed that seatbelts were used, and the crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Newburg Fire Department, the Newburg Ambulance Service and the SEPSA Ambulance Service.
