(MARCELLUS) – One person is in custody following a shooting incident Friday night.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department responded to the 300 block of East Dibble Street in Marcellus at 9:44 PM Friday to investigate a shooting incident. Deputies determined that people had gathered at the home for a bonfire when an argument started between the victim, 22 year old Tyler Blentlinger of Marcellus and the suspect. During the argument, the suspect retrieved a gun and fired in the direction of Blentlinger, striking him twice.
The suspect was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and taken to the Cass County Jail. Alcohol does appear to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
Blentlinger was taken by Marcellus Ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for non life threatening injuries.
