The Steuben County Council has approved and finalized the 2019 budget, set for nearly $27.8 million.
With the new budget set, some cuts were made in staffing. A position at the Steuben County Treasurer’s Office was eliminated. In additions, a position in the Steuben County Assessor’s Office was reduced from full time to part time.
The budget total represents all funds available for spending in the coming year, including those derived from property taxes to those that come from areas like the gasoline tax.
The tax levy will be based on $9.2 million with an adopted tax rate of 30.25 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.
The budget came in below the county’s minimum tax levy due to cuts in the personnel area.
