Area players on 2021 Mr. Basketball watch list

(UNDATED) – The 2020 Mr. Basketball Award was handed out this week, and already the 2021 Mr. Basketball watch list has been announced. And two area athletes are being noticed by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. Junior Thomas Kurowski of Sturgis has been tagged as a player to watch. He scored 50 percent of his team's points in the 2019-2020 season, averaging 27.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game. He went over the 500 point mark for the season. He also scored 40 points or more three different times. Sturgis finished the season 9-12. Also on the watch list is Marcellus junior Gavin Etter. He made 42 percent of the 164 3 point attempts he took in the 2019-202 season. He was able to average 22.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Also on the 2021 watch list is: Jaden Akins of Farmington; Pierre Brooks II of Detroit Douglass; Kobe Bufkin of Grand Rapids Christian; Tyson Davis of Goodrich; Legend Geeter of River Rouge; Joshuah Hines of Macomb Dakota; Julian Lewis of Ann Arbor Huron; Blake Lund of Linden; Keyon Menifield of Flint Beecher; Julian Roper from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s; Foster Wonders of Iron Mountain; Ke’ontae Barnes of Muskegon Orchard View; Basheer Jihad of North Farmington; Jayden Nunn of Flint Carman Ainsworth; Brody Parker of Troy and Omar Zeigler of Detroit Martin Luther King.
