Wednesday, May 27, 2020

(DETROIT) – The Detroit Pistons are officially on the hunt for a general manager. Team senior adviser Ed Stefanski and vice chairman Arn Tellem will begin the process of searching for a new GM this week, a league source confirmed to the Detroit Free Press. The GM will report to Stefanski, who was hired by owner Tom Gores in 2018 to help lead the search for a new president of basketball operations, but went on to perform the responsibilities of the position himself without a title change. Now, the organization is looking to fortify its front office and revert to its initial plan. The team will begin contacting potential candidates this week. Some potential candidate names have already surfaced. They include former Piston guard Chauncey Billups and former Michigan high school standout Shane Battier.
