(EAST LANSING) – Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker has his second tight end commitment in the 2021 recruiting class. And he plays for one of the top high school football programs in the country. Jake Renda, a three-star from IMG Academy, announced Saturday his commitment to play for the Spartans. The Princeton, New Jersey native decided to transfer this offseason from Notre Dame (N.J) High School, where he played quarterback, to attend his senior year in Bradenton, Florida. "After careful consideration over the last few weeks, I am excited to announce that I am committed to Michigan State University," he wrote on Twitter. "Thank you to Coach Tucker, Coach (Ted) Gilmore and (the) entire MSU staff." Renda is ranked as the 75th-best tight end in the country, according to 247Sports. The 6 foot 5, 230 pound Spartans pledge also had offers from Arizona, Boston College, Central Michigan, FIU, Fordham, Holy Cross, N.C. State and Old Dominion. He's the 12th commit in Tucker's first recruiting class and joins Kameron Allen, a three-star prospect from North Forney High in Texas, at tight end. Allen committed April 29.
