(ALLEGAN) – It was a tough decision, but the Allegan football team has decided to cancel their final two Wolverine Conference games this season. The team made the announcement Wednesday, saying they were struggling with low numbers, so they will not be playing Edwardsburg and Three Rivers. Instead the Tigers will now try to find teams to play the last two weeks that are in similar situations as they are dealing with low numbers. In addition, Allegan has forfeited their ability to make the playoffs in a year when everyone qualifies for the post season. A MHSAA policy stating that Edwardsburg and Three Rivers must find opponents before Allegan can schedule new ones adds a small hurdle into the Tigers' quest to play their final two games, but they are close to reaching an agreement with a Grand Rapids-area team for Week 5 and have finalized a varsity matchup with Galesburg-Augusta for Week 6.
