(DETROIT) – Detroit Pistons General Manager Troy Weaver made another big deal Wednesday night, trading Luke Kennard in a three-team deal for the 19th overall pick in the 202o NBA Draft. The Pistons then took Villanova wing Saddiq Bey at No. 19, their third first-round pick in the draft. Detroit is also reportedly getting guard Rodney McGruder from the L.A. Clippers in the trade. Bey is a 6 foot 8 sophomore forward who averaged 16.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season for the Wildcats in 31 games. He shot 45.1% from 3-point range (79 for 175). In the three-team trade, the L.A. Clippers acquired Kennard, the Brooklyn Nets got Landry Shamet, and the Nets sent the Pistons the 19th pick. Kennard was selected 12th overall in the 2017 draft by the Pistons' Stan Van Gundy regime. He has one year left on his rookie deal and will be a restricted free agent after next season. He proved to be a productive and efficient offensive player, but dealt with injuries in each of his three seasons. Last season, Kennard averaged 15.8 points, 4.1 assists and shot 39.9%, but played in only 28 games due to bilateral tendinitis in his knees. He is fully recovered and said he was in in the “best shape” of his career, during the Pistons' bubble workouts earlier this fall.
