(WASHINGTON) – Cassius Winston's longest year is finally over. He’s heading to the NBA. And back to the site of one of his biggest victories. Mr. Winston is going back to Washington. The Oklahoma City Thunder selected the former Michigan State basketball point guard with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of Wednesday’s NBA Draft. He is going to then be traded to the Washington Wizards per reports. Winston, the Big Ten player of the year in 2019 and a first-team selection again in 2020, averaged 18.6 points, 5.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 32.7 minutes a game as a senior en route to his second straight second-team consensus All-America honors. A 2016 graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School, Winston shot 44.8% overall, including 43.2% from 3-point range, in leading MSU to a 22-9 overall record. Winston and Mateen Cleaves are the only players in MSU history to be a consensus All-American multiple times.
