No. 24 Michigan women beat Notre Dame 76-66

(SOUTH BEND) - The No. 24-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team battled its way to a 76-66 road win over Notre Dame Thursday night at Purcell Pavilion. The Wolverines secured just their second win at Notre Dame (1-2), and first in South bend since 1979, using double-digit scoring efforts from four different players. Junior Naz Hillmon recorded her third straight 20-plus point performance with 20 points and knocking down a career-best 12 free throws. Senior Hailey Brown scored 18 points while junior Leigha Brown added 14 points and five rebounds, and senior Akienreh Johnson scored 12 points as Michigan improves to 3-0. Made free throws were a key contributor in the win as U-M made 17 of 19 from the charity stripe, with Hillmon going 12 for 13 from the line and Leigha Brown making four of her five attempts. Defensively, U-M blocked eight shots with Hailey Brown rejecting four and Hillmon blocking three Fighting Irish attempts. The Wolverines forced 15 Notre Dame turnovers, turning them into six points. Maddy Westbeld recorded her third straight game in double figures with 18 points on 7 of 15 shooting. She also notched 7 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals. Dara Mabrey had 12 points and Anaya Peoples had 13 points.
