(EAST LANSING) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association has announced the school classifications for the 2021-2022 school year. Classifications are based on a second semester count date, which was February 10 for the MHSAA. The break down will have 186 schools in both Class A and Class B, and 187 schools each in Class C and Class D. No schools in St. Joseph or Branch Counties changed their classifications. However some schools around Southwest Michigan are making a changes. Moving up from Class C to Class B will be Watervliet. Going down from Class B to Class C is Buchanan. Going from Class D to Class C is Lawrence and moving down from Class C to Class D are Eau Claire and New Buffalo.
