Michigan Unemployment Rate Falls Between September And November

(LANSING) - Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased slightly between September and November.

According to data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, the unemployment rate went down from 5.1% to 5%. Employment receded by 6,000 between September and November and the number of unemployed people fell by 7,000, resulting in a workforce decline of 13,000 during the two month period.

Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director of the Center For Data and Analytics says although Michigan lacked several key labor metrics for October, data for the period from September to November revealed continued trends of a declining unemployment rate and the total labor force.

The largest increase in employment during the two month period was 1.4% in Natural Resources and Mining. The largest drop was 0.5% in construction.

One year ago, the Michigan unemployment rate was 5.2%.
