(CASSOPOLIS) - A 59 year old Indiana man has been convicted for shooting at a married couple.
Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz says Britt Weaver was convicted following two hours of deliberation for an incident that happened almost one year ago.
On May 3, 2025, Weaver fired his AR-15 rifle at a married couple who were fishing on Christiana Creek in Calvin Township. The couple testified that shortly after arriving they were approached by Weaver, who they say was visibly upset about their presence and accused them of being involved in thefts in the area.
After a brief verbal confrontation Weaver returned to a nearby property where he was residing. The couple says they felt uncomfortable and decided to leave the area, but Weaver fired his weapon at them.
The couple called 911 and the Cass County Sheriff's Office arrived and arrested Weaver and also recovered the weapon.
Weaver is scheduled to be sentenced on April 10.
