(UNDATED) - Three men were arrested on weapons charges following two traffic stops.
On Mary 7, Michigan State Police stopped a vehicle for speeding on U.S. 12 hear Tharp Lake Road in Cass County's Mason Township. When troopers searched the vehicle, they found two firearms, with one of them having been reported stolen.
A 21 year old Edwardsburg man was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon along with receiving and concealing a stolen firearm. He is being held in the Cass County Jail.
On the same day, Troopers stopped a vehicle for a lane violation and improper registration on I-94 in Paw Paw Township. It resulted in the seizure of 20 boxes containing 240 bottles of Promethazine Hydrochloride that were not prescribed or purchased legally.
The substance is commonly mixed with fruit juice, Sprite and other dangerous drugs such as fentanyl, and sold on the black market.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 23 year old Mishawaka, Indiana man, was arrested and taken to the Van Buren County Jail on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. The passenger, a South Bend man, was also charged with receiving and concealing a stolen firearm.
The investigation regarding possession of Promethazine Hydrochloride is continuing.
