(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana State Police is investigating multiple instances of swatting incidents targeting the Indiana General Assembly.
Swatting is when someone with ill intention notifies law enforcement via a phone call, e-mail or other form of communication, about a false emergency at a targeted location. The end goal is to generate as large a scale law enforcement response as possible.
Indiana State Police officials say that this is not only potentially dangerous to everyone involved, but it is also against the law. While the motives for this type of activity may vary, ISP is working diligently with local, county and Federal law enforcement partners to identify those responsible for these reckless, careless and illegal activities.
Indiana State Police say their goal is to seek criminal prosecution against those involved, to the fullest extent allowed by law.
