(STURGIS) - The Sturgis City Commission has approved contracts to have certain city properties mowed.

Wednesday night Sturgis Department of Public Services Director Tom Sikorski presented the City Commission with information on the process they went through. He says the bid packets were sent out on March 12 and then opened on March 30.

Sikorski explains that the bids covered the mowing of city properties, along with trimming and some leaf removal as needed for three years, 2026, 2027 and 2028. The bids were broken down between DPS and Electric sites. Sikorski says the companies would be paid when the services were performed.

Sikorski recommended that the mowing bids be awarded to Cutter's Edge Lawn Care & Maintenances LLC, New Creations Landscape Management, Rickett's Law Service, Finish Line Property Solutions LLC and Craven Lawn-Snow. (LISTEN ABOVE).

In addition, Sikorski recommends awarding the trimming bids to Cutter's Edge, New Creations, Rickett's and Craven. He also recommended the as needed leaf pick up bid be awarded to Cutter's Edge.

All three recommendations were approved by the Commission with identical 8-1 votes.
