(JOHNSON TOWNSHIP) - Authorities say the body of a 16 year old boy was recovered from Whitmer Lake on Sunday.
The LaGrange County Coroner's Office says the teen's death appears to be from drowning. However the cause and manner of death will be determined by autopsy and toxicology results.
The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office issued a notification around 5:30 PM Sunday asking boaters to stay off Whitmer Lake due to a search and rescue operation.
Assisting with the search were the Johnson Township and Orange Township Fire Departments, the Steuben County Dive Team, the Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation Officers.
The teen's name has not been released as authorities are working to notify family members.
