(LANSING) - Michigan's unemployment rate declined in June, offering another sign of stability in the state's labor market as employers continued to add jobs despite ongoing challenges in workforce participation.

According to data released Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, the State's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell by one-tenth of a percentage point to 5% in June, down from 5.1% in May. The report also shows that Michigan employers added approximately 3,000 payroll jobs during the month, matching employment levels recorded in June 2025.

State labor officials described the labor market as steady, pointing to modest job growth alongside a lower unemployment rate. However, they also noted that labor force participation continued to decline, indicating that fewer people were actively working or seeking employment.

Michigan's labor force participation rate receded by three-tenths of a percentage point to 59.5% in June. This is the percentage of Michigan residents 16 or older who are either working or actively looking for work.

State officials will release updated regional and county employment data later this month, providing a more detailed picture of labor market conditions across Michig
