(VICKSBURG) - A preliminary report has been issued regarding a plane crash Wednesday near Vicksburg.
The Federal Aviation Administration is heading up the investigation. FAA officials say that the plane, a two-seat, fixed-wing single engine aircraft, crashed under unknown circumstances into a corn field near the Thrall Lake Airport around 7 PM Wednesday.
A 55-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were seriously injured in the crash. The plane is owned by Matthew Thorne, though the FAA says it's not clear whether Thorne was one of the two people in the plane when it crashed.
Both the man and the teen were removed from the plane and then transported to Beacon Hospital and Bronson Methodist Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Michigan State Police were the first on scene after the crash, followed soon by the Pavilion Township Fire Department.
The FAA says it could take several months for a final crash report to be released.
