(CENTREVILLE) - The St. Joseph County Road Commission says they are aware of a paving company claiming to be hired by the Road Commission.
Road Commission officials say the company is making false claims that they have been hired by the Road Commission to pave driveways with excess materials from their projects.
The Road Commission says Lakeland Asphalt Company was awarded the bid for their in-house paving projects, while Reith Riley was awarded the bid for the federal aid job on Lutz Road.
It is rate for Road Commission contractors to have excess materials after a paving job. If there is any surplus, it is returned to the asphalt plant for use on a different project.
The Road Commission recommends that the public exercise due diligence when selecting a company to perform work on your property.
If you have any questions you can call the Road Commission at 269-467-6393.
