(STURGIS) - Mayor Frank Perez responded to another suggestion that he resign.
During Wednesday's Sturgis City Commission meeting, Commission Justin Wickey shared a message from former City Commission Chuck Huber that Perez needs to step down. Wickey then said that the right thing for Perez to do is resign.
Perez says he is deeply disappointed in Commissioner Wickey, who serves as a Pastor, and chooses to not practice the fundamental principle of forgiving one's neighbor. Perez says ten days after he issued his apology Wickey decided to release a statement. Perez says instead of showing grace, Wickey continues to issue hateful and untrue allegations. (LISTEN ABOVE)
Perez then reminded the Commission that according to the investigation he did not break any laws. But by continuing to push a false narrative it only serves to divide the community and not let it heal. Perez says he remains committed to serving the City with integrity and openly works within the proper legal parameters.
Perez says he will continue to serve the people of Sturgis just as he has done since coming on the City Commission.
