(LANSING) – Michigan saw no change in their June jobless rate.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says the June jobless rate of 4.2 percent is the same as it was in May. Total employment inched up by 2,000 while unemployment rose by 3,000 over the month.
The June jobless rate for Michigan was a half a percentage point above the national rate of 3.7 percent.
Jason Palmer, Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives says Michigan's jobless rate has remained in the narrow range of 4 to 4.2 percent since October 2018. He says from May to June, payroll jobs showed an increase of 5,000 reflecting small gains in many industries.
Michigan's June total employment level of 4.7 million was the highest level recorded in the state since October 2005.
