Sturgis Church Says Statue Stolen From Garden
Monday, August 12, 2019

(STURGIS) – Members and regular attenders of St. John's Episcopal Church in Sturgis are hoping that a stolen statue from their garden is returned soon.

Church Secretary Diane Warnament posted on her Facebook page that she discovered the statue missing on August 1. She said she noticed the statue of St. Francis of Assisi was missing from its normal spot in the garden.

The statue is just two years old and extremely heavy.

St. Francis is the patron saint of animal and the environment. Each year they have had it, the church has done an animal blessing by the statue.

A police report has been filed. So far, there are no leads.
