(LANSING) – Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched down slightly in December.
According to data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, the adjusted unemployment rate went down by a tenth of a percentage point to 3.9 percent in December. Total employment advanced by 6,000 over the month, while unemployment fell by the same number, resulting in no change in the State's total over the month.
Jason Palmer, Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives, says jobs went up slightly in Natural Resources and Mining; Trade, Transportation and Utilities and in Manufacturing. Losses were reported in Professional and Business Services and Other Services.
The December jobless rate in Michigan was a tenth of a percentage point below the December 2018 jobless rate, which was an even 4 percent.
The U.S. jobless rate went down by four-tenths of a percent from November to December 2019 and is at 3.5 percent.
