Thursday, August 22, 2024

(STROH) – Some new life saving devices will soon be in place around the Stroh area.

The Stroh Volunteer Fire Department has completed training and will be placing seven new Zoll 3 BLS AED’s into service.

This project was made possible through the the assistance of several agencies. The LaGrange County Community Foundation awarded the Stroh Fire Department a community Impact Grant, which allowed for the purchase of four AED’s. The Milford Township Trustees gave the Fire Department Cumulative Fire Funds to purchase two more units, and Parkview Hospital awarded a grant to buy one more AED.

The total cost for this project is $25,293.

These new AED’s have several functions, including providing real time feedback to first responders during a rescue situation.

Responders will be able to see and hear in real time their compression depth and rate while performing CPR. They also have a CPR timer, an elapsed timer, an audible metronome, a shock delivered tracker, along with audible correction measures if needed.

All Stroh Fire Department vehicles will now have the AED’s. Three will be with members of the fire department in their personal vehicles as well.
