(CASSOPOLIS) – A missing Dowagiac man has been found dead.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says 78 year old Larry Waldschmidt pulled into a residence on Kelsey Lake Street in Penn Township. The owners were not home. Waldschmidt's vehicle was in the driveway so it did not appear suspicious.
When authorities located his vehicle and then went into the house, they found Waldschmidt was dead.
Waldschmidt was reported missing March 27, 2019 from his home in the 24,000 block of Jefferson Street. He was considered endangered due to his being an insulin dependent diabetic and having Alzheimer's disease.
An autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.
Dozens of tips from around Michigan came in when a Silver Alert was issued. Authorities investigated them all and they were unfounded. Behnke says his office and Waldschmidt's family want to thank the news media, friends and first responders that helped in the search.
