(ELKHART) - An Elkhart County Jail inmate was found dead early Saturday morning.
51 year old Brian Banister was in jail on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement.
He was being held in the jail’s medical ward while being treated for an undisclosed illness when he was found unresponsive in his cell. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the jail.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
