Sturgis girls track team wins Regional championship

(BERRIEN SPRINGS) – The Sturgis girls track team won a Division 2 Regional Championship Friday at Berrien Springs. The Lady Trojans captured several Regional Titles on the day. Keyanna O’Tey repeated as Regional Champ in the 100 meters and the 200 meters, and will advance to the State Finals. O’Tey was also a member of the 400 meter relay team along with Tenley Banaszak, Angela Cary and Hannah Garbine that repeated as Regional Champions. The 800 meter relay team of Addison Eicher, Hannah Garbine, Sydney Bir and O’Tey were Regional Champs, as was the 3200 meter relay team of Bir, Tessa Hatt, Kinder Smith and Berkley Holtz. The 1600 meter relay team of Smith, Bir, Hannah Garbine and Holtz finished second and will move to the State finals. Vivian Massey repeated as Regional Champ in the adaptive shot put, while Eleena Kelley repeated as Regional Champion in the shot put. Also moving to the State Finals will be Bir, who was third in the 400 meters, Cary who finished second in the high jump, Hatt who came in second in the 800 meters, Brooks who was second in the 300 meter hurdles, and Hannah Garbine who took fifth place in the 400 meters.
