Coldwater girls second at D-2 Regional

(BERRIEN SPRINGS) – The Coldwater girls track team was in action at the Division 2 Regional at Berrien Springs and finished second on the day. Several individuals and relays are moving on to the State Finals. Grace Huff was Regional Champion in the 800 meters and teammate Gwen Eby was fourth and will also advance to the State Finals. Brianna Barle was Regional Champ in the 100 meter adaptive event and the 200 meter adaptive event. Ella Grabowski won the Regional Championship in the long jump and set a new school record of 18’3.5”, which breaks the old school record of 17”8.5” that she set earlier this year. Marie Powers captured the Regional Title in the shot put, while teammate Elli Foley was second and Danika Cox was third, and all three will move on to the Division 2 Finals. Elli Foley will go to the State Finals after finishing second in the discus while Mia Moore is going after a fifth place finish in the 200 meters. The 1600 meter relay team of Eby, Grabowski, Ella Thompson and Grace Huff finished third and moves on to the State finals. The 800 meter relay team of Thompson, Grabowski, Huff and Moore finished fourth and set a new school record of 1:46.97, breaking a record set in 1988. They too advance to the State Finals as does the 400 meter relay team of Thompson, Aubrey Gebbink, Ava Longstreet and Moore who finished fifth and also set a new school record of :50.96, breaking the record set in 2018.
