(LAGRANGE) – A date has been announced for when applications need to be turned in for for consideration of COVID-19 Relief Grants.
Sherri Johnston of the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation says Friday, August 6 is the deadline for grant applications need to be turned in for the second round of COVID-19 Relief Grants. LaGrange County has been awarded $250,000 from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs through the CARES Act. The EDC will give out $10,000 grants to small businesses to retain jobs that are held by low to moderate income employees; along with providing working capital and activities that support remote learning.
To qualify for one of the $10,000 grants, a company must have a total employment of less than 100 people; 51 percent of the workforce retained need to classify as low to moderate income and they must be physically located in LaGrange County.
The LaGrange County EDC will establish a committee of local business leaders to review the applications. The committee will utilize financial information provided in the application to determine the impact of the pandemic on each business. Priority will be given to those businesses that have been impacted the most.
Applicants will need to show that grant funds will be used to retain low to moderate income jobs.
