(STURGIS) – Three people have applied for two seats on the Sturgis City Commission.
During a Wednesday work session, the Commission interviewed Brandon Kinsey, Aaron Miller and Luis Perez. Kinsey is interested in the Second Precinct seat currently held by Justin Wickey. Wickey is stepping down from the Commission at the end of October. Miller and Perez have applied for the At Large seat on the Commission, which became open due to the unexpected death of Jon Good.
All three of the individuals are Sturgis natives.
One of the questions asked of the candidates is why they think they are the right person for the job and their civic involvement. Kinsey previously put his name in for the Second Precinct seat, shares his answer with the Commissioners. LINKC.
Miller responds to the same question, saying when he served as State Representative for the 59th District, he wasn't able to become involved with groups and organizations. Now that he is out of office, he has time to join some groups.
Perez gives his answer to the question. LINKD.
The Commissioners will be asked to vote on these candidates during their October 27 meeting. Whoever is appointed will be asked to finish out the current terms for both of these seats, which is until December 2022.
