(COLDWATER) – Branch County has a new Treasurer.
Friday morning, a three person committee selected Debra Bracy of Quincy to become the County Treasurer. The Committee interviewed Bracy along with Steven Rutz of Coldwater. They were selected out of five applicants for the position to come back for second interviews.
The selection committee was made up of Branch County Clerk Terry Kubasiak, Probate Court Judge Kirk Kashian and Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien.
Bracy will be asked to finish the term of Julie Waterbury, who was elected the Branch County Treasurer in November 2020. She stepped down September 29 after being hired as Chief Financial Officer for the Grand Ledge Community Schools.
The Treasurer's position will be up for election in 2022. Bracy can choose to run for the office at that time.
