(THREE RIVERS) – The City of Three Rivers has found a new Police Chief.
City officials announced in a media release that Scott Boling will be
the new Three Rivers Police Chief. Boling, who is the current Police Chief for Schoolcraft, will take over for Tom Bringman. Bringman retired in November after serving 47 years with the Three Rivers Police Department, the last 14 as Police Chief.
Boling's hiring must be confirmed by the Three Rivers City Commission.
Boling served with the United State Marine Corps before getting a job as a police officer. He has 25 years experience in law enforcement and 22 years of being a firefighter and medical first responder. The majority of his career was with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. He retired from there in 2020 to take the Police Chief position with Schoolcraft.
In the release, Three Rivers City Manager Joe Bippus says he believes Boling will lead the Three Rivers Police Department into a brighter future. Bippus says Boling has an impressive resume, and has proven he can build community relationships and is sensitive to the needs of the Three Rivers Community.
Several individuals applied for the position. The hiring process included interviews made up of a panel consisting of Three Rivers and St. Joseph County community leaders.
The Three Rivers City Commission will be presented with the option of approving Boling's hiring during their meeting Tuesday.
