One Person Injured In Four Vehicle Accident

(PORTER TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured in a four vehicle incident that happened in Cass County's Porter Township.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called to the intersection of U.S. 12 and M-40 at 10 AM Monday. Deputies determined that 59 year old Lloyd Overholt of Elkhart lost control of his vehicle and could not stop because of the icy road conditions on M-40.

Overholt when through the stop sign at U.S. 12, clipping the rear end of an automobile driven by 50 year old Kari Scare of Marcellus. Overholt continued through the intersection, hitting a vehicle driven by 84 year old Nelson Hill from Union, who was traveling west on U.S. 12.

Overholt then hit a third vehicle, driven by 59 year old Thomas Rae of Elkhart.

Hill was transported to Elkhart General Hospital with non life threatening injuries. All of the drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

Deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police, the Porter Township Fire Department and the SEPSA Ambulance.
