(THREE RIVERS) – Nurses at Three Rivers Health-Beacon Health Systems let the community know they want a fair contract. .
Tuesday afternoon, off duties nurses held a rally and informational picket. The purpose was to let the community know their contract expired on March 31, and negotiations with Beacon Health have not resulted in a new contract.
Brandy Shoup, an ER nurse and President of the local nurses union spoke during the event. She shared that the nurses had good feelings when Three Rivers Health and Beacon Health started working together in October 2021, but that has changed. LINKC.
Shoup says the nurses work 8 to 12 hour shifts, and are being told many times they must work 16 hours, only to turn around and do it again the next day. She says vacation time has been taken away and the way nurses are getting paid has been changed as well.
Shoup says negotiations with Beacon Health won't resume until June 7.
