(INDIANAPOLIS) – Jobless rates went up from April to May in Northeast Indiana.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the latest figures for the State. LaGrange County saw an increase in their unemployment rate, going from 1.3 percent to 1.7 percent. LaGrange County is tied with Boone County for the lowest unemployment rate in the Hoosier State for May.
Steuben County had a jump in their unemployment, going from 1.4 percent in April to 1.8 percent in May. Elkhart County also increased from 1.4 to 1.8 percent, while DeKalb County’s unemployment rate went from 1.6 to an even 2 percent.
Noble County’s unemployment rate grew from 2.1 percent to 2.4 percent from April to May.
Lake County has the highest unemployment rate in Indiana for the month of May at 4.2 percent. That’s up from 3.9 percent in April.
The statewide unemployment rate also went up from April to May, growing from 2.2 percent to 2.5 percent.
