(UNDATED) – Incumbent State Representative State Carra has taken another step towards a second term in the Michigan House of Representatives.
During Tuesday’s Primary Election, Carra, the current 59th District State Representative, won the Republican Primary to run for the newly created 36th District House seat in Lansing.
The 36th District is made up of all of St. Joseph County, and all but 5 townships in Cass County. Carra received 4,961 total votes from citizens of the District. Jerry Solis had 2,627 votes to finish second in the Primary.
Scott McGraw was third in the voting with 2,530 votes and Jack Coleman, who ran for the Republican nomination in 2020, collected 2,386 votes and finished fourth.
Carra will next face off against Democratic candidate Roger M. Williams in the November General Election. Williams ran unopposed in Tuesday’s Primary Election and won his party’s nomination with 3,531 votes.
