(ALBION) – Monday will be a busy day for the Noble County Republican Party.
They will be holding a caucus to fill a seat on the Noble County Commission, previously held by Dave Dolezal, who died unexpectedly on November 14.
Dolezal had attended the County Commission meeting on the morning of November 14, but said he was feeling ill. He returned home and took a nap. Family members say he told them he felt better when he woke up, then died that evening.
The 69 year old Dolezal had served as a Noble County Commissioner, representing District 1, which is the southern townships, from 2011 until 2018. At that time, he was beat in the Republican Primary by Justin Stump.
Dolezal was picked in a caucus in 2021 to return to that seat on the County Commission after Stump resigned and was hired to the the Noble County Emergency Management Director.
Dolezal was just elected to his own term on the County Commission in the November General Election for a four year term.
The caucus will start at 7 PM in the Dekko Room of the South Complex on State Road 9 in Albion.
