(TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP) – Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal crash between a passenger vehicle and a semi.
Troopers were called out to southbound I-69, just south of M-60 in Tekonsha Township at 4:45 Wednesday morning for a crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 43 year old Detroit man was driving the passenger car and came onto I-69 from the ramp, and lost control of his vehicle. It struck a guard rail and spun in front of a semi that was traveling south, and the autos collided.
The Detroit man was pronounced dead at the scene. Evidence shows that he was not wearing his seat belt.
The driver of the semi, a 44 year old Toledo, Ohio man, was not injured and was wearing his safety device.
The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of his family.
Assisting at the scene were the Tekonsha Fire Department, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the MAFA Ambulance Service.
The crash is still under investigation.
