(COLDWATER) – Charges have been filed against a woman for allegedly shooting her daughter during a fight.
Branch County District Court officials say 64 year old Kathleen Rowe of Coldwater was arraigned on four felony charges after she allegedly shot her daughter.
According to the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office, the Branch County Sheriff’s Department was called to the 500 block of Pamela Drive at 4:30 Thursday afternoon. According to their investigation, deputies determined that 33 year old Kacey Stringer was shot in the abdomen during the fight with Rowe.
Stringer was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne and is in stable condition.
Rowe was questioned by deputies and told them she shot her daughter out of self-defense, and she was tired of Stringer’s physical and mental abuse. Stringer told Deputies that there had been an argument, but nothing physical happened between the two of them.
Stringer says that Rowe threw a drawer at her and even pointed a knife at her before getting the gun.
Rowe is charged with discharging a firearm in a building causing serious impairment; felony firearm, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and felonious assault.
Rowe plead not guilty to all charges and is being held in the Branch County Jail on a $150,000 bond. A probably cause hearing is scheduled for February 9 and a preliminary examination for February 16.
