(FABIUS TOWNSHIP) – A weekend house fire in western St. Joseph County claimed the life of an individual.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says at 8:18 PM Sunday, deputies along with the Fabius-Park Fire Department and the Three Rivers Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire in the 14,000 block of Coon Hollow Road in Fabius Township.
Firefighters pulled a 91 year old Three Rivers man from the burning structure. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name has not been released as authorities attempt to notify next of kin.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Fire Marshal. Assisting at the scene were the Michigan State Police and the American Red Cross.
