(COLDWATER) – Sentence has been handed down to a Quincy man in two domestic violence cases.
Branch County Circuit Court officials say 31 year old Matthew Jackson was sentenced to between 10 and 30 years total in the Michigan Department of Corrections for both cases.
On September 17, 2022 Jackson was arrested on charges of unlawful imprisonment, domestic violence and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. Then on October 1, Jackson was arrested for an incident that happened at an apartment on Glenn Avenue. He was charged at that time with domestic violence, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder by strangulation, and unlawful imprisonment along with two counts of resisting law enforcement.
He also allegedly threw a telephone at the victim on October 1.
On December 12, Jackson plead no contest to the charges in the September incident, and no contest to assaulting a police officer in the October incident. The other charges against Jackson from the October situation were dismissed by the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office.
Jackson has been given credit for 236 days already served.
