(CENTREVILLE) – A Sturgis man has been found guilty on multiple counts related to incidents that happened last summer.
St. Joseph County Prosecutor David Marvin says that on May 17, 29 year old Brandon Forbes was found guilty following a one day trial in St. Joseph County Circuit Court on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon and three counts of resisting and obstructing police.
On August 14, 2022, the Sturgis Police Department and the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department were sent to a Sturgis residence to investigate an assault. Officers determined that Forbes had attacked a family member with hammer. He was arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail, but during the intake process, Forbes attempted to strike a Sheriff’s Deputy and resisted an officer and had to be tazed.
Forbes was also convicted as a third habitual offender. He will be sentenced on June 23.
